Can I have an independent marine survey done?

Yes. BTH Marine welcomes independent marine surveys on any pre-owned listing. Buyers are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence. Survey arrangements and associated costs are the responsibility of the buyer. BTH Marine will coordinate reasonable access to the vessel for survey purposes.

Question 4

Do you require a deposit for a sea trial?

Yes. BTH Marine requires a 10% refundable deposit prior to scheduling a sea trial. The deposit is fully refunded if you decide not to purchase the vessel after the sea trial. This policy protects both the buyer and the seller and ensures serious intent before a vessel is taken on sea trial.

Do your pre-owned boats come with a warranty?

Pre-owned vessels at BTH Marine are sold as-is and BTH Marine does not provide any warranties on pre-owned inventory. In applicable cases, BTH Marine can assist with facilitating the transfer or extension of existing manufacturer or extended warranties from previous ownership. Warranty eligibility and transferability are determined solely by the issuing party and are not guaranteed. Buyers are encouraged to conduct independent surveys and sea trials prior to purchase.

We conduct regular evaluations of your listing's performance and come back to you with data and options. You are never in the dark. From the first evaluation to the final paperwork, BTH Marine handles it all. All consignment vessels are accepted and listed as-is. BTH Marine makes no representations regarding vessel condition beyond what is disclosed by the seller at the time of listing.

What do I need to bring when I consign my boat?

Accepted Answer

To consign your vessel with BTH Marine you will need to provide proof of ownership including the vessel title, current registration, and any service records or documentation you have. Having your HIN and engine serial numbers available will help us build an accurate listing. A signed consignment agreement is required before any vessel is listed. If your vessel will be stored on BTH Marine property during the consignment period, current insurance coverage is required and must be maintained for the duration of the listing.

What if my boat has a lien?

Accepted Answer

If your vessel has an outstanding lien you will need to work with your lender to satisfy or coordinate payoff at the time of sale. BTH Marine can assist with structuring the transaction to accommodate a lien payoff but the seller is responsible for ensuring clear title is delivered to the buyer at closing.

Do you handle the paperwork when my boat sells?

For in-state transactions BTH Marine handles title and registration processing as part of the sale. For out-of-state and international buyers we provide all documentation required to register the vessel in your state or country of residence. BTH Marine makes reasonable efforts to provide accurate and complete transaction documentation however buyers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all registration, tax, and importation requirements applicable in their jurisdiction. For complex transactions we recommend consulting with a marine attorney or title service.
